Does Whitening Toothpaste Work?
Well, the answer is yes, and no.
Whitening tooth paste has more abrasive particles in it that will help remove stains on your teeth.
Among the things that may cause dark stains on your teeth include:
- coffee
- tea
- red wine
- smoking
- cola-type pop
- certain spices or foods
However, whitening toothpaste will not “bleach” your teeth: it will not make your teeth whiter. The ingredient in bleaching material that actually makes your teeth whiter is a jelly form of hydrogen peroxide. Whitening toothpastes do not contain this.
So whitening toothpaste will try to remove stain that darkens the surface of your tooth, but will not lighten the color of the tooth itself.
